LTC ratio

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Does anyone know what the nurse to pt. Ratio limit is in PA. I work the 3-11 shift and have 43 residents in my care. I wondered if this is normal or not this is my first venture into LTC.

Any insight would be great. Thank you.

Much Peace

Billy

Is this skilled care? What are you responsible for? Meds, Tx, orders? Sounds like a bit much for me! We have 48. 1 RN, 1 LPN and 3- 4 CNAs. Rn has 26pts,LPN 22. Each does their own meds, treatments, admits, orders. RN normally handles the docs and also does the cetral and PICC lines.

I am responsible for Meds, Tx's, Admits, Doc calls, orders, Everything from A- Z. There is an RN In the building but she has an assignment of her own, usually she has 20 pt's of her own, This is skilled and non skilled bed mix I have. The split is about half and half. I have 3 - 4 CNA's that work on my hall with me. They are a big help.

Thank you for the thread link.

Wow! I could never do 43 on my own esp with the med pass!

I have 37 pts of my very own(I am an LPN, and I am the charge nurse on the 3-11 shift). In Ohio is is 1:50. In PA it's 1:45. I live right on the border, and I looked up both states to see which would be better in getting my license.

Hi, I am a LPN in Maryland...Our ratio is 28 to 35... that is with 3 cna's I do meds ,tx's ,help out , :coollook: some iv therapy..I am relocating to the schuylkill county area I am intersted in working in the schuylkill or sourounding areas...Can anyone tell me the salary for an experienced in LTC and hospital LPN Thanks Terri
