LPN's phasing out

I have heard within the last couple days alot about everyone (at least here in indiana) is going to phase out lpn's over the next couple of years and bring in only QMA's. I got told that there is to many titles in nursing..CNA QMA LPN/LVN RN and so on

At my new job, when I interviewed, they asked if I was pursuing my RN, and then proceeded to tell me that they don't hire LPN's. Actually, my original intention was to go the LPN route, then go back immediately for my RN. Guess not! A lot of the nurses I know did it that way, so they were paid as an LPN instead of a tech. I heard Clarian (Central Indiana) hospitals are not hiring new LPN's, but keep and/or send back to school.
