Currently I'm a LPN interested in enlisting in the Army. I wanted to know can I still practice nursing without my RN in the Army? From my research online all requirements state RN or associates degree. Should I wait until I get my RN and then enlist? Thank you...

Army nurses are commissioned officers with a BSN or MSN who typicall receive a direct commission.

In the reserves you can receive a commission in the nurse corp with an ADN after you have passed your RN licensure, NCLEX. If you look at the reserves they do have a great program for those ADN nurses that basically gives them money to attend school in order to complete their BSN...this might be a great route for you..

I would NOT soley interace with a recruiter - otherwise you will enlist.. you will stay an LPN and that is their area of expertise.... take a look at the options :)!

Just Cause,Thank you for your insight and quick response!

PS - i forget to mention to check with your states Army NG... ours has a ADN to BSN program that will pay a stipend of 1600 a month.. I might have confused that previously..

So yes Reserve and Guard you can be commissioned as a Officer with ADN...and guard has the ADN to BSN program where you get a monthly stipend.

If you can do it - i strongly recommend getting the BSN and whether or not you wait until you get the BSN or join reserve or guard with ADN is your preference... keep in mind after you get the ADN... as soon as you get enrolled in a ADN to BSN program you are elibible for other benefits ;) :)
