I've just completed the program and will be taking the nclex in a couple of weeks. The nursing concepts tests are not that bad. A lot of reading, each one covers a large amount of info, but very doable. Good luck to both of you:)

congrats on finishing the program and good luck with the nclex:) just a couple more questions please, How long did it take you to complete the program? and how was the check off clinical portion of the program? was it difficult? Thanks, I am just a little nervous about starting the program and speaking to someone who has gone through it is very exciting.

Thanks:) I took the 1st nc test last October and the last one in March. I only had to do the NC tests, I completed all the gen ed at a local school. I took the CPNE in July at Albany. You must be self motivated, there is no one to give you deadlines or due dates. I strongly encourage you to become a member of the yahoo groups, specifically:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/rnstudygroup

There are sub groups for each of the tests, including the gen ed tests. This group was extremely helpful to me as I progressed. You will find others who are in your area and/or people who are in the same spot you are. I met some great people. I went tot he workshop in Memphis with one of them. Another one, I met while she was here taking her CPNE at Southern Regional, she was a huge help when I tested a week later--there were lots of phone calls between NY and SC where she lives:)

The CPNE was certainly a monster:) I got a date so quickly because I was willing to anywhere and was given a cancellation date. Currently EC is requiring criminal backgroud checks, you need to time this since it takes 2 months to get it. I got through the program fairly quickly by planning ahead and calling EC freqeuntly to be sure they had done or were doing their part. It's funny, people freqently fall through the cracks. I was waiting and waiting for my initial transcript eval to be admitted to the school...I waited...and I waited, finally I called them. One of the schools I had attended changed their name. Ec had the transcript under the new name and was still waiting for a transcript from the school--under the old name.

I think, more then anything, they are looking for competence during the CPNE. You must know the critial elements, but you REALLY need know what you are doing. It's very stressful and emotional, but it is doable.

If you have any other questions please ask, I don't mind at all. Without the help of others I don't think I would have made it through the program and there is no reason to do it alone.

Have a nice day, Tina:)

Hi, yes I am a Lpn currently enrolled in Excelsior, and have taken one text recieved a D and was sad. But after talking with a counsler there she explained to me that I needed the books they suggested. they follow their guildlines of their test. So buy their books, and if you want we can study together at a mutual place. I have done all of the prereqa acept for Socialology. Good Luck and get back at me..............................
