LPN/OB tech

So I just found out that I got the LPN/OB tech position. I am so excited!! I have been with this company for over 3 years (working in EKG), but didn't think I would find a job within, because the hospital does not really hire LPNs. I consider myself blessed & I know I'm about to learn a lot. I think this is going to be a great opportunity for me while I am working on my BSN. Honestly I am nervous, so if anyone has any tips or anything, considering this is my first time working as an LPN & in L&D, please tell! Thanks :)

I didnt know LPNs could be OB techs. Congrats. When I become and RN I would like to work in L and D.

Our OB techs are LPN's and scrub for our csections and are at lady partsl deliveries. An RN must do the first assessment, but then after that, they do VS and assessments thereafter until they are moved to PP. They also set up delivery tables and stock the rooms. They are busy people. I think it is a great thing...I know I appreciate them a lot.

yes at the hospital I am at LPNs are Ob techs, Babyktchr pretty much nailed it on the head, lol, as far as what LPNs do in L&D. I Love staying busy, when I did my clinicals there for school everyone (RNs, LPNs & hucs) was steady busy, I think it makes the time go by faster.

Congrats! I want this position for experience too!!!

It's Going great! I love it, it is alot to learn and take in, but you stay busy and that is what I like! I feel like I'm back in school because I am learning so much. So far the RNs are nice, they are teaching me and we all work as a team. I think that is the way is should be!
