if you don't love what you do, then why be a RN?

Published

I've been on this site for many months but visited seldomly.

Lately, I've seen a lot threads about unemployment, stress in nursing schools, ppl think what they are learning in the programs are waste of time or they complaint about clinicals. why?

life is all about solving problems and then moving on to progress. if everything just work out fine and smoothly, where the heck is the fun and experience from then?

Without misery, to what can we compare with and makes it happiness?

:lol2: to all smart RN students and new grads out there, if you aren't good enough, you won't get into the programs that you are in now, if you aren't smart enough, then you wouldn't be so unhappy, sometimes playing dumb is a technique to relax yourself a bit, you don't need to know everything from the book and you don't need to have a pleasant encounter with patients at all clinicals, just be positive and make yourself proud. Beating yourself or others down won't help you achieve anything, and only makes it the enemy of you.

Happy Thanksgiving to all :o

please love your profession. it is a profession to give your love and care to those who needs. be helpful in every aspect and you will find yourself in just the right position.

Regardless of how hard you try, you can’t please everyone. I have also read on this site many Pre-nursing students who have applied multiple times to finally get accepted into a program. Perseverance pays off! I have also read nursing grads that passed their NCLEX on the seventh time. Again, perseverance pays off. Things may not go your way at first, but those who seek out different ways to overcome roadblocks tend to be successful in life. If I had a dollar for each time things did not go my way, I would not be a nurse. I would be a multi-millionaire sitting on the beach somewhere having Margaritas.

Who cares if you don’t get along with others in your class. You are only required to remain professional at all times. The same is true with clinical or lecture instructors. You will run into ones who you don’t mesh well with. That too is okay. It doesn’t make you any lesser of a student or them an instructor.

I wake up every day with a personal commitment to enhance the lives of those I touch. It may be the smile and thank-you to the cashier at McDonalds to helping a Patient Care Tech clean up a patient. We only have one life to live. If you died tomorrow, what would you closest friends, family and co-workers say about you?

you are right. professionalism is the key to everything. and consistency pays off.

If I die tomorrow...funny...I was actually close to dying today on the highway, could've bumped into a big ladder in the middle of the fast speed lane that a construction van has dropped just minutes ago. I was just lucky to turn my wheel fast enought to void hitting it!

God, if you don't make me die, then I think I want to be a RN.

Some people go through life never knowing what they truly want to do. I am one of those people. I want to be a nurse because my mom was one. I think i'll be good at it and its a good career. That's all i have for now.

You will be a good RN, I have known other ppl in my class who also wanted to be RN because their parents are RN. I think it's great to have family member that's in the same profession as you. There's so much to talk about when sitting on dinner table every night :) wish my parents are RNs :D you are totally lucky
