Looking for a transition program in the California area. I want to get out of med/surgery tele. I have been working on the floor for 10 years and I want to go out and advance my nursing career. My hospital had a transition program but they didn't pick me. The frustrating part is that I have been working with them for 5 years and still picked someone who has less experience. I know that they want someone young to mold into their ideal nurse but i have experience with medication, diagnosis and etc. This political B's to me. I feel so stagnant in my nursing career. Going to masters is too long and too expensive and you might not even use your master or higher education degree after graduation and might still work as bedside for a while before an opportunity comes up.

Soooo.....are you applying to new jobs elsewhere?
I finished my MSN in 18 months. That time would have gone by anyway soooo.....yeah. Worth it.
You don't sound like you want answers as much as you are just frustrated. That is understandable but at some point you will have to look inward, then outward, to find the opportunities you are looking for. Transition programs aren't very common. You may have to be willing to move.
