I've been an RN for 15 years and licensed in 2 other states. Twenty eight years ago I had a misdemeanor. I have recently applied for a CA license after accepting a job in that state. I have given the BON all the documentation they requested. I called the other day to give them my new address and was told my info "went directly to adminstration" and I said that was good at least it went somewhere. The woman said, "No that is bad, very bad" and further told me it could be 3-4 months before I get my license. Any success stories out there to give me hope or should I just take give up and go elsewhere? My nursing license is above reproach. I've never even had a speeding ticket in 28 years.

I don't know what "going to administration" means. I do know that the BRN reviews every case individually and that they're not exactly the fastest entity out there. Considering that it takes several weeks for an applicant WITHOUT the criminal history to get endorsed, I'm not entirely surprised to hear it'll take you 3 months.
Unfortunately CA seems to be one of the tougher BRNs to deal with. On the brighter side, there are lots of nurses in CA who were able to get licensed with criminal records.
I wish you good luck and a speedy outcome.
