looking for lpn scope..

Published

Ok. This might be a stupid question. I am a Canadian LPN working on getting my license in NY...and am looking for literature on the LPN scope of practice. Where can I find this? I have looked on the nys op site...but I dont really see what I am looking for. Is it more clearly defined by each facility?

Thank-you!

Not a stupid question at all. This can be confusing.

Looks like NY BON has it fairly outlined here:

http://www.op.nysed.gov/nurse-scope-lpn-rn.htm

And, I am sure the facility(s) have additional practice guidelines. But, for the most part, will adhere to BON.

Oh wow - didnt see that.

Thank-you!

Vida, was the scope in Canada much different from the NY state scope of practice?

When I read that, I was thinking that you had much more latitude up here...

And I miss you... you are a FINE nurse.

The scope thing - yeah Im just not wanting to miss anything. I got the same thing when i read it too, but, I have come across LPN's being taught to start IV's in school. We definelty weren't. So when I get a job...

Just dont want to be in the dark.
