Looking for Chicago

Anyone have or know of any hospitals hiring travelers in Chicago... looking for the downtown area? Specialty is ER. Thanks if anyone can help out :)

I don't know. But...

There is really only one "downtown" hospital, Northwestern Memorial, basically right on the lake (ok, a block away) and right in "downtown".

There are others on the outskirts of downtown with easy public transportation and/or driving access to downtown and "get outta dodge" routes.

If I were you, I'd get a few maps of the city, one general, one with the public transportation routes. And then plot on those maps all of the potential hospitals you'd look at.

ie, I worked at and lived near a large hospital but it was in a small, quiet neighborhood. It was on the NW border of Chicago. But, three blocks away was the L/subway station and you could be downtown in a half hour and laugh at the traffic standing still.

However, IME, I have not heard of Travel ER opportunities in Chicago.

My last assignment in Chicago was not downtown but close enough that I lived there and drove to the facility. I am hoping to find something similar. I know that Northwestern does use some travelers, but right now they don't need any ER nurses :( Thanks for the reply!

How long does it take to get licensing in Illinois?? I would like to go to Chicago and was told that licensure took a while there.

I think it takes about six weeks.

Like most states it takes longer than it should, but also figure in the time of year. In the summer it takes longer because the board is processing the bulk of the years' graduates.

Thanks all - I want go there eventually, when it is not winter time with all the snow off the lake!
