Hey everybody! I'm still in nursing school but I'm thinking ahead! I was wondering what everybody's experiences were with loan forgiveness programs, either through the government or with hospitals you accepted jobs at after graduation. Are they really hard to come by?
Thanks!

I have heard that the State of Florida has a fairly comprehensive loan repayment program, and most hospitals are part of the program. Just go to the state forum, it is a sticky on the top of the page.
I wouldn't personally go across the country just to get the program, as the wages are also fairly low as a whole, and there are some issues related to working conditions in Florida (I know, because I lived and worked there), but if you have family there, and like the idea of living in the subtropics, worse ideas have been had. Having said that, other hospitals and perhaps states also have these programs, but in all cases, you will likely give up something in return, like a lower wage, etc.
Best of luck.

I live in florida, and like the previous post, some if not most have loan repayment programs. FWBMC has a program where you agree to work for them for 2 years, and upon doing so after 90 days of working for them they pay back 3000 dollars of your loan, after one year 3000 more dollars. hope this helps, good luck
