Littman Question

A friend has offered to purchase me a Littman Classic II SE stethoscope two-sided? I don't start nursing classes until the fall, but a friend has offered to purchase a stethoscope for me :-) Will this one work for both adults and pediatrics? Any advice is appreciated!

Just reread my post and realized I shouldn't type and talk on the phone at the same time. :-) I'm trying to determine if the Littman Classic II SE is two-sided. Sorry for any confusion!

From my understanding, the Littmann classic is two-sided, but one side has a tunable diaphragm and the other side is a traditional bell. Both are adult-sized. The Littmann cardio III has a pediatric side and an adult side.

I'm starting nursing school in May, and the classic II is what I have been recommended. I guess we won't be working that much with very small children (under 35 lbs.)

I used that type steth on my peds rotation and have used it on the job with peds patients. Have had no trouble. On the peds ward, they should have peds size steths to use for the itty bitties. I would go ahead and get it. This is the standard steth, used by many.

Thanks! I'll have her go ahead and order it - I'm so excited to be getting my first stethoscope! :-)
