Hi. I know I am thinking way ahead but here goes...
I am a nursing student in MD now but my hubby has dreams of relocating to the Charlotesville area when I finish school in 2007. Does anyone know how I transfer my license in VA? I assume that since I am taking courses in MD I must take the MD NCLEX to obtain my license. Any comments, advice, knowledge will be greatly appreciated.

It's my understanding that you can take your boards in any state after finishing nursing school. Contact the BON in Richmond for specific information. I graduated with someone who took her boards in the state that she wanted to move to.

VA and MD are both part of the licensing compact. VA just joined.

If you are moving, then you will not have a legal residence in the other state, so a compact license is of no use. Please read about the compact license. It was created for nurses who worked in a neighboring state, but kept the lgal residence in the original. If you move to the second state, then yuor compact license is no longer valid.
NCLEX is a national exam, and you can apply to what ever state that you want for licensure. It doesn't need to be where you went to school. :wink2:
