I need to ask L&D nurses out there to please tell me your facilities' protocol on how to deliver Pitocin & Magnesium Sulfate concurrently. Which medicine to which port, etc.
Thanks.

Pit always always goes into the lowest port. When we do it with MgSO4, we use two different IV sites.

Pit in the lowest port. We don't use Y tubing, so the Mag goes in the next one up.
Thank you. I'm also used to the Pitocin being plugged into the lowest port & the Mag into the next one up. The only time we use two sites is for Insulin drips. Thanks again.
