LCCC new student

I am a new student at LCCC classes start this summer (2012) I will be applying for the nursing program after I finish my Chemistry this summer. I already have a BA in Child development, so this will be my second degree. I have read the wait list is pretty long to get into the program. Just wondering if anyone can tell me what to expect. I also have the option of pursuing CSU accelerated 2nd degree BSN program, but it's twice the money and almost an hour away. Thoughts?

Don't believe the hype about the waiting list my wife and I both moved from the state of Ct two years ago and she is already on the LPN waiting for January, it might take one to two yrs depending on the pre-reqts that you have completed including your science classes, but no longer than that. Please hang in there, beside regarless wherever you go you'll still have to be placed on a waiting list.

The waiting list has gone down a bit from what it used to be. I (and almost everyone I got in with) waited one year after completing all of the support classes. Don't just take your chem, take everything you need because your application won't be considered until you do. If I was in your situation and didn't have kids, I'd probably go the CSU route and get your BSN out of the way. We'll all need BSNs eventually anyways. Personally, I'm doing the ADN and planning to head straight for the OSU RN-BSN program - less time away from home, less money, and LCCC has daycare for the kids.

I do have 2 kids. And want another baby. So after talking to advisors and reading stuff on here, I've decided LCCC is the route. I can't dedicate 40hrs a week to classes and clinicals, raise my kids, take care of a house, and still have time to study and sleep. Lol. It's a longer route, but LCCC-OU online RN-BSN will be my route:) thanks for the advice.

LCCC is a good school. :) I'm over half way done right now.

It took me two years waiting on the list (one year once I finished support classes). People now are getting in a bit earlier (as long as support classes are done). They changed the requirements, and I think statistics was throwing people off, plus Tri C opened the Westlake campus, so I think that took a bit of heat off of LCCC's program in terms of waiting.

It's hard, I won't lie. I have three kids, when I started, my youngest was six months. Sometimes the house takes a hit, because kids and school are the priority.

My wife just got accepted into the lpn for this coming August 2013, I believe the waiting list perhaps become longer due to Tri- c losing all of their nursing credentials for what reason who knows???
