Laundry Woes

We have a huge problem with laundry not being returned to the unit. We are a 200 bed facility with 5 units and one large laundry room. Every patients clothing is marked with their names on a colored ribbon that is specific to the unit. We send socks to wash in special net bags so the laundry just washes the whole bag and returns it to be paired by the CNA on her free time. Things go missing especially socks and the families are furious. I am ready to have the staff count every item of clothes that goes to the laundry and keep a list (similar to dry cleaning tickets) But that is a huge investment in time and energy. Logically it should run like clockwork yet towels and lord knows what goes missing. We have a camera on the laundry area so if they were stealing it would show (of course a thief could get around that if they want).

Any suggestions- would really help!!
