Lapsed CNA NYS

Hello there, I've been searching high and low for answers. I've contacted Prometric by phone and email, as well as having called the school where I graduated. No one has gotten back to me on this!

My CNA license expires May 31st, 2017. I have not worked 8 hours as a CNA. I ended up remaining in home care. I have been offered a really good job opportunity at a near by hospital. Orientation starts June 1st, 2017.

I need to renew it before the expiration date. When I go to fill out the application on the website, do I need to check that I am retaking the oral and skills exam only? What tests do I have to take? How do I go about finding out where I can go to re certify?

I am very sorry if this has been asked before, but I would love some direction. I don't want to just send out a money order without having all the details. It is very frustrating that no one has been able to help me. There's not much information on Prometric or online about what I need to do.

Thanks for the help!!!

Did home care not count toward the 8 hrs?

Unfortunately, no. I would have had to work as a CNA. I did a conversation class to get my HHA. I just tried calling again, but now they are closed. I will try Prometric again in the morning.
