Hi guys ,

I'm 34 and thinking of just pursuing the LVN program first and work for one yr. and then RN..(i would like to get some experience first before being thrown to the wolves so to speak)

I like to take life in baby steps.....

are there hospitals in Dallas that will help you with tuition if you agree to work for them for some time period??

How does that work?

thx for the feedback.

Pilar,

I think it is a good idea getting your LVN first. That's what I did. While I was in LVN school, I worked as an aide in a hospital which was a huge help. I could watch first hand what I was being taught in school, plus the nurses were more than willing to answer questions. You would probably have to check with individual hospitals about help with tuition. Normally, you have to work there for a period of time then maybe become eligible for some kind of tuition reimbersment. You would probably have a difficult time finding a place that would pay your tuition for LVN school while you are going to LVN school. But if you work part time as an aide while in school, you have your foot in the door at a place you are familiar with and you already know the nurses and doctors. Good luck to you!
