Hi there-can anyone tell anything about the Kean@Ocean program at Ocean County COllege. I currently attend OCC for the ADN. Do you have to graduate with your associates 1st then apply to kean@ocean. In the meantime of waiting to get into the nursing program can I take classes for the BSN?? I want to get my BSN I was considering Thomas Edison (they have an online program) but if I can take classes right in ocean county that would be an option too. any input on this would be appreciated. Thanks!!!!

Hi jnc,
I recently graduated from Kean (the main campus in Union) with a non-nursing degree. I looked into going back and getting my BSN with them and one of the requirements to get into the nursing program is to already have an RN license. They will not make any exceptions (even for an alumni) if you don't posess your RN.
I'm currently looking to get into an accelerated BSN program and from what I've seen so far many (if not all) colleges require you to satisfy certain prereqs before they'll admit you in their nursing program (including the non-accelerated BSN program). My advice to you would be to look over the nursing curriculum (each college posts it on their website), see which prereqs they require and take them while you're working on your Associates. Depending on what your major is, you may even be able to use some of those courses to satisfy your electives; that's what I was able to do with mine and have very few remaining that still need to be satisfied.
Hope this helps!!
thank you so much for your reply. On their website regarding the BSN it does state that you need a RN license (satisfies 28 credits i guess) i just wasnt sure if you could take some of the bsn classes while still working on your associates. Apparently the wait list at OCC is long so i figured i would work on the BSN classes while waiting to get into the program. I think I will call them to clarify. Thanks again for the response!:wink2:
