Specializes in ICU.

Ok, so I am looking to travel in Feb. and California is on my radar-- I am from the East Coast. I've seen some bad things about Kaiser---but recruiters have told me that Kaiser may be a good starting point. I am an ICU nurse with 2.5 years experience. ANY and ALL feedback is welcome. I wanna know good and bad stories.. I've heard as a traveler you get floated OFTEN..

I am looking at Southern California, any hospital recommendations would be awesome too!

Thank you in advance..

I'm at Kaiser right now. The floating sucks, sometimes every 4 hours. I was told I would be working med-surg/tele. They left the /float part out. ICU travelers sometimes get floated just as much as we do, if there is no need for them in ICU. I have heard them complain how much it sucks to go from 1-2 pts one night to 4-5the next night. The worse is you don't know where you are working until you sign in at the staffing office. There have been weeks where I work 3 in a row, go to the same floor and get different patients, when mine are still there. Other times you float to 6 dfferent floors in 3 nights. But it can be tolerable for 13 weeks! :D
