Just starting pre-req's

Without knowing what courses you need to take, it's hard to know what to suggest.

If you have to take an intro Bio and/or Chemistry class, take those first, even if they aren't official prerequisites for the more advanced Anatomy/Physiology/Microbiology courses. They'll provide helpful background.

Trying to get all the hard classes out of the way quickly strikes me as setting yourself up for failure, but you know yourself best. 3 hard classes (for example) is likely to be more difficult than 1-2 hard classes and 2-3 more manageable classes. Grades matter for admission to nursing programs. Retention matters, too - you can't just go for the grade and forget everything as soon as you've left the class, because you'll be using the info in future classes.

most college websites have a sample schedule for you to look at. try finding one for your school and look to see what they have down for freshman year, semester 1. those will be good suggestions

hi everyone. i am new to the site and have some questions. i will be starting my pre-req's in jan.'09. i have 24 classes to take over 4 semesters towards a bsn. i was just wondering which classes are best to take first. i would like to get my hard classes out of the way but don't want to over load myself.

Honestly, what would be best is to make an appointment with a nurse student adviser at your school and see which would be best for you personally to take. They are far more knowledgeable on the schools programs and at helping pre-nursing students in preparing for the nursing classes. We could give you guidance or even suggestions. However these opinions would come from our own personal study habits and experiences and these may not be whats best for you personally.

Please do not get me wrong, I would love to give you help, I just want you to get the best possible advice you can possibly get in this situation. The decisions you are speaking of are very important in your nursing future and we all would love to see you succeed in your quest to become a nurse. Just my 2 cents. I hope it helps.
