I moved from Ohio to California (East Bay) in September. It took so long to get my LVN endorsement...now it's taking forever to find a job! I left a decent job, nice apartment, gave up pretty much all of my stuff (my boyfriend lives here) and I can't find a job. I'm really getting discouraged. I received two letters last week that this particular hospital cancelled the LVN positions that had been advertised. On the job websites, it's the same old regurgitated jobs that I have applied to already! Grrrr!!!! The only bright spot....I tested/interviewed with one employer, but they won't be hiring until March or April. I've never been without a job this long.
I have dropped off resumes, did the online apps and made a job search my job. I'm ready to yank my hair out! I've even started applying for jobs that I'm not crazy about (in peds, dialysis) just to get back to work!
Oh well, just needed to rant!

yep, it's tough out there, but health care is still one of the better areas for employment.

It's easier to find a job as an LVN/LPN in the smaller urban-rural areas than it is in the larger cities. Generally, RN's are what facilities are looking for. Having ICU/ER experience (big emphasis on the ICU) on your resume could "magically" open up positions.
EDIT: The point I was getting at was to maybe search for a job in a smaller nearby city or smaller facilities you may have passed on because they weren't lucrative enough. Other than that if you still can't get a job, you only have a few options, like either moving to a city that HAS job openings for LVN/LPN's or continuing on and getting your RN.
