Job Seeking Tips

Hey all! I'm new to this website but have frequented it when researching nursing stuff. SO here's my issue. I graduated in 2014 from Kansas with my RN, ADN. I never worked as an RN in Kansas because I moved to Texas right away and took boards there. I then worked at a medical spa for 9 months. It didn't end up being the type of place that allowed me to do many skills so basically I gave injections. I now live in SoCal, and after 7 months, I finally received my California RN License. I have applied literally ALL over. (Dramatic, but it feels like it for sure) I have had zero luck. I think I'm technically considered a new grad since I have no acute care experience? My question is how do I get my foot in the door for at least an interview? A lot of the new grad jobs are more in the OC/Irvine/Anaheim areas, and currently I am living in Menifee. So that's an hour 1/2 drive without traffic. One way. Would it be worth the commute every day? Until I could make enough money to relocate at least?

Any words of advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

I can't think of any position that would consider you a new grad. You may not have acute care experience, but you do have nursing experience. You may need to be willing to commit to longer commutes- from posts here and elsewhere, it seems as though nursing is a tight job market in the more populated areas of CA. You may need to look for positions outside of acute care. You may also want to look into a BSN completion program to make yourself more competitive.

I definitely have considered a BSN completion program. I will expand my perimeters and see if that helps me land anything. Thank you for your reply!
