Jefferson FACT program 2012

Published

Hello all!

I discovered this site and believe it to be a great place to share and learn. I am extremely interested in Jefferson's FACT program. I plan to apply for May 2012. I just want to reach out to anyone with similar interest and your thoughts on the process. I would like to know who else plans to apply for May 2012 and if your pre-req's have been completed.

Just to share a little about myself, I am currently completing mu BS in Public Health online and have all the pre-req's completed. I am just excited about this next journey.

I would also love to hear from current students as well.

Does no one have anything to say about the program??? :crying2:

HI im an LPN student I just turned 20 I graduate in January.

anyhow, I really really really want to go to jefferson for ASN next fall and there are no prereqs just take the pre exam and send in your transcripts. I'm VP of my class right now but my question is how hard is it to get into Jeffersons ASN program at geisinger? I feel like since there are no rereqs there has to be more of a catch?

I know there is a red pre exam book to buy but what is the toughest subject and how far ahead should I study for this pre exam before scheduling the test date?

also would help for any current, senior or alumni JTU students!

Thank you so much!

I started the application process last week. The NursingCAS application requires you to input all your previous classes & grades. It took 3 hours to complete. I am working on the essay now, which is relatively easy (under 500 words), but is taking me hours to write. I am surprised at how few applicants are on here. Past years have tons of posts.

I'm in the FACT program. I love it. I have no life. The professors are awesome and so supportive. My classmates are an amazing bunch of people, who I feel lucky to have met and spend my LONG days with (I have a varied background, and most of my classmates do too). The amount of work is sometimes overwhelming. Clinicals can be long and boring or they can be tons of fun and fly by. It is what you make of it - if you are negative and can find a reason to be miserable, you will find plenty to make you miserable. If you are positive and go with the flow, you will love it. There are days I wonder why on earth I'm doing this to myself, but I have more wonderful days than bad ones.

I'm so tired I can barely think right now, but I hope that gives you some insight. I did more research on this program than you can possibly imagine, but nothing (not even talking to previous students) prepared me for it. You just have to go in and do it. And make up your mind that you're going to do whatever it takes to pass. I entered a non-morning person, but I was up last Friday at 4:30am studying for my 8am midterms. I now think nothing of getting up before the crack of dawn for clinical or studying. That's a good thing! Good luck to you all!

hey, justto let you know, there is another fact 2012 thread. its jefferson fact 2012 i believe. there are more people on there.

Hi,

I just got accepted to FACT and I would like to ask you a few questions, but can't send personal messages, can you? Thanks, Miren

I'm currently in the process of applying to Jefferson's FACT program. The program sound great. I know I'm a little late in the application process, but I had a few questions before I submit all my items. Did any of you tailor your essay question to Jefferson's program, or did you just write one general personal statement base on the NursingCAS prompt. And are ALL students who meet the GPA requirement automatically granted an interview--or is the interview only granted on an individual basis?

Hi Stacy,

It is my understanding that the interviews are granted on an individual basis, I heard there were around 900 applications already and the class will have around 130 students. As for the essay, I just answered the prompt of why do you want to be a nurse? In my case the question of why Jeff-FACT was discussed at the interview. Good luck! Miren

thanks mrscreixell! I'm so nervous about my chances of getting accepted because I'm such a late applicant. I've just sent everything in to nursingcas. How long did it take nursingcas to send everything in to jefferson? I'm also kind of nervous about my essay. I wrote my essay talking about my goals in gaining a strong background in nursing and hope to progress into a more advance field in nursing.

Hi,

The process took around a month from when I originally send my transcripts until they posted the GPA on their website. Even if you have the rest of the things in the system Jefferson cannot access your file until the GPA is calculated by them. They will let you know that they received the papers first and then, they will post the gpa. Good luck!
