IVF info

hi..im a student nursing from the philippines..can you plz help me with the indications,components of D5 IMB,,i'v been Looking for it in the internet,drug hand book but i can t find anything at all

all i know is that its a maintnance balanced solution,,

help!!!

D5 = dextrose 5%. Can be used in conjunction with other fluids, such as 0.45% saline (D5 .45) or 0.9% saline (D5 .9) , or it can be used by itself in water (D5W). It provides some sugar to the patient, unlike saline-only solutions.

I'm not as good with indications for the different fluids, but I have seen this used, for example, in diabetic patients, or for patients who are not allowed or unable to take PO food/fluids.

This is an IV solution that seems to be manufactured in the Philippines. What you need to do is find a bag of it when you are in a hospital and read the contents on the bag (they should be listed on the IV bag) or find out the name of the company that makes the solution and go to their website to get a list of the contents of the IV solution.

I only know what is in the IV solutions manufactured in the U.S. Here is a chart of them:
