IV help

Hi, does anyone have any experience with the BD Insyte Autoguard winged IV catheters? For nearly 10 years I've used the BD wingless caths for IV starts with no problems. Then our hospital changed to the winged catheters and I can't get any of my IVs in. I get flash and when I try to advance I get a ton of resistance and get stuck. Somehow I always end up out of the vein. I've tried to alter my technique, everything from changing my angle to advancing more after flash but I can't seem to fix the problem and have no idea what I'm doing wrong. I find these caths don't really level off flush with the skin after flash back. They don't really go down if that makes any sense. At this point my confidence is just off and I feel like I no longer know how to start IVs. I used to be so good with the wingless product. Please help!

We use them. They are super sharp and tend to go out the back side of the vein before you know it. Flatten your insertion angle...a lot!  If you got a flash then nada back it out a smidge until you have blood return again, make sure your angle is still low and then advance just the catheter.
