It's taking so long!

I am currently on the wait list for Moorpark Colleges' RN program. I am a 26 year old married mother of 3 girls! They will be starting school in August and I was just curious if anyone had suggestions on what I could be doing while Im waiting. My time is limited in the day, but I am so eager to get a foot in the door. I only have a nursing assistant certification and I feel like I dont have many options and the wait to get started is killing me!

If you don't have time to get a full-time job as a nursing assistant, you could try doing volunteer work at a hospital whenever it's convenient for you. Do you know when you will be starting nursing school, or is it still a mystery? If you know a time frame, you may be able to speak to the professors and find out what textbooks you will need and get them early and start learning nursing basics. If it's still a mystery, you can keep reviewing A&P and other pre-reqs to make the transition into nursing school easier. Good luck! The wait will be over soon.:wink2:

It took me 4 semesters to get in at my NS. I know how you feel! I spent the time Tutoring A&P students & taking additional classes (Pharmacology, Medical Dosage and Med Terminology). I also worked on classes for my BSN. All I have left now for the BSN is the O-chem and Stats. So as soon as I get done at my ADN I can x-fer to BSN in a year! I am so glad I chose to stay in school because it has helped me stay focused.

Good Luck, it will happen... just stay busy.

Memorize lab values and what they mean. This will help you when you do get into nursing school. I agree with MedicalNerd - take other classes and keep your knowledge base growing
