ISO Comment Re. Grad Programs, etc.

Howdy! I planning on applying to the following schools for MSN, MPH, and/or MSN/MPH:

- Columbia University and Hunter College

- University of Pittsburgh

- Emory University

- Johns Hopkins

- University of South Florida

I would LOOOOOOOOOVE to hear from current students or recent graduates of any of these institutions. I'm debating about how important it is to go to a "name" school. Emory has an interesting MSN/MPH program in international nursing, but it's $75,000! Is it worth it? Also, for anyone in Baltimore, what is it REALLY like. The crime is terrible and I've heard mixed things about the city. THANKS! THANKS! THANKS!

I went to JHU for my BSN and I have nothing but wonderful things to say about that city. I have two friends that recently graduated with their MSN/MPH and, while they said it was tough, it was well worth the blood sweat and tears. And I can attest that the name does open doors for you.

I am currently enrolled in USF for my MPH. I needed in-state tuition and UF did not have their ASPH accreditation when I applied (they are provisional now).

How do you like USF's MPH program? I am considering combined MSN/MPH programs, but I'm not too interested in strictly MSN programs. I am using nursing as a foundation for a career in public health. RN, BSN, MPH versus RN, MSN, MPH? Thoughts?
