Is this wrong???

I'm a brand new cna at a nursing home. There is one resident who I'm attached to (I know bad idea) but I only visit him when I'm done my shift since he's not in my unit anymore. After visiting him today he told me how much he misses wawa coffee and as a reaction I told him I'll buy him a cup before I go into work again. He never has any visitors and I know he looks forward to seeing me. Now he's looking forward to his coffee. Is it wrong to bring in coffee for a resident? Could I be fired? Now I'm very worried that other people will think I favor him. I don't perform care on him. All I do is talk to him as a friend since he has no one else to talk too. So far I've made a good impression to my coworkers, residents, and families of the residents. I don't want to ruin that by bringing coffee to one resident I talk too.

The only reason I thought this was okay was because he told me his PT brought him in left overs from a upscale restaurant he went to.

I would ask your supervisor.

Yes, talking to your supervisor is a great idea. Your facility may have a policy about visiting residents who are no longer on your unit and/or about bringing in food from the outside.
