Is it me, or...

Has anyone else noticed that there aren't many NP programs offered in Charlotte? Maybe I'm not looking in the right places, but all I seem to see is FNP programs. I am interested in Peds and would eventually like to be an NP who specialized in Peds or Neonatal. Will I have to go elsewhere to fulfill this goal? Thank you. I have been googling and searching this site hoping to find otherwise.

Thanks!!!

You will probably have to go to the RTP area and look at Duke or UNC. Both are good programs. Do you want to work in a hospital or outpatient?

I've been offered a NICU job at a hospital in Charlotte, but would like to go back to school eventually. Thank You for responding

ECU offers an online program.

Thank You!!! I looked at all of those schools that you all recommended. ECU has an online Pediatric and Neonatal, but the other schools don't. I'm not too sure that I would be willing to commute a couple of hours (each way) to and from school in another major city for 2 years. Yikes!!! I'd hate to have to move just to further pursue my education. As big as Charlotte is, it's a shame that they don't have a variety of NP programs.

I know- it is the barren wasteland compared to RTP area! the Chapel Hill program you go up once a week then it varies- Vandy has a flexible one - you only travel several times over the semester....

Hopefully App will bring some more programs down here once their program grows some more. They have had the RN-BSN program in Hickory for a while.
