I am a registered nurse with eight years of nursing experience. I intereviewed for a nurse position with an insurance company but the pay is only 31.00 per hour. I think it is too low.

I agree, it does sound low for your eight years of experience, however companies are aware that they have the upper hand in this crappy economy. If you dont take the job, another nurse will take it. Last year, I interviewed for an insurance company and they offered approximately the same amount, I tried to negotiate ... never heard back from them. How are their benefits? If tuition reimbursement is important for you, then I'm sure you have looked into it . . . how soon can the employee begin taking advantage of this benefit? Keep in mind, it's not easy to get a specialized RN job nowadays.

Careful OP... just saying, did you apply through a staffing agency? Find out the client company name... I'd research them first. You will not have a problem finding information if it's one of the notoriously bad ones that is constantly hiring recertification RNs for a LTC product that is under investigation/litigation throughout the country. One position for this not so hot client is continually reposted every few weeks by the same staffing company.

here is the link:)

LOL. How many of these places are there! No, the one I reasearched was posted by a different agency and is a different company. Demand details. However the $31 was the same. Lots of these places too, if you look up your rep on LinkedIn, (join) you will find are brand new college grads who really have no idea what it is like to work much less what the heck kind of experience you've got. Some insurers have decent reputations, but some have been quite the little news makers and it therefore it can be easy once you get a little information about them, to find out just what they really want you to be doing. All I can say, is, that I don't want to spend any time testifying in court. Oh, you should join and read glassdoor.com and wow do you get to find out some stuff you are glad to have found out about companies.
