Is it common to have to study for the HESI or repeat?

I am genuinely not trying to boast or put anyone down by that question. I was just lurking and see all these posts about not passing or retaking because of lows scores got me wondering. I took it one time, didn't study, and had been out of high school for 3.5 years. I got a 96 in math, 92 in English composite, and reading comprehension exempt. I have always done well in math without trying, so that didn't surprise me, but English has never been my forte and I didn't find it very hard. I will try to help where I can in here, because Im truly not trying to be high and mighty, I just didn't realize that it was supposed to be so difficult. Are there others in here who passed with high scores and no studying?
