I am looking for some recs on programs to download for my PDA. I have the Iphone and I know I can download the same programs for Palm. I already got Epocrates. What else do you all recommend?
Also- does anyone know of any clipboards with a calculator and some anesthesia notes, formulas etc on the clipboard.
Thanks

In regards to the clip board notes .... anesthesia-ed on ebay has laminated reference cards with formulas and references for SRNA and CRNA's, called an anesthesia bundle, that can fit on your clip board.
I like Sota Omoigui's Anesthesia Drugs Handbook as a drug guide on my iPAQ (I am addicted to my iPAQ - huge screen, it's so useful - love it!)
Good luck!

On my phone/PDA I have "anesthesia central" from unbound medicine which is a combination of several books. The site is: http://www.unboundmedicine.com/ click on the box that says "best selling products" and scroll down to "Anesthesia Central" and click on the picture.
The books included in this software are: The Manual of Anesthesia Practice, Pocket ICU Management, Davis' Drug Guide, Pocket Guide to Diagnostic Tests (4th ed.) and Unbound MEDLINE.
I also carry a regular handbook, it is called: Handbook of Anesthesiology 2008. Heres a link to it at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Handbook-Anesthesiology-2008-Mark-Ezekiel/dp/1934323004/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1223056694&sr=1-1
I use both of these tools everyday and find them helpful. The only suggestion I would make is in regards to the book. Take it immediately to Staples or Office Depot, etc and have it spiral bound. The original glue binding will last about 2 weeks and pages will start popping out. $4.50 will fix that problem and you will be able to lay the book out flat or fold it back on itself.
Hope some of this helps.

There's a couple programs that will really help you...I've looked at just about every one available for anesthesia....probably the only one I haven't seen yet was the unbound app.
My recommendations:
1) Taber's medical dictionary (easier to use than Stedman's)
2) Soto's Anesthesia drugs (comprehensive pharmacology..anesthesia specific)
3) Clinical anesthesia (Barash), MGH, or Nurse Anesthesia Pocket guide. NA Pocket guide has some great pearls, but lacks comprehensive content that Barash offers.
4) Either a doctor or nurse drug guide, to look up all the weird drugs your patients are on. Epocrates is free, but can only be installed onto the unit...and is a major memory hog.
I've found that I use these four application types more than anything else. Isilo is also very useful; its a great application to put your class notes on for studying.
Good luck.
