Do nurses have to take part in anything to do with In vitro fertilization or stem cell research?
How do you feel about this? In my consideration of going into nursing, I am not sure I could take part in these things. I am catholic and know they are against my faith...do these happen at hospitals or seperate clinics?

IVF is not, to my knowledge, done in hospitals. If this is something you have an issue with, you'd do well to not seek a job with a reproductive endocrinologist (highly specialized) and/or OB/Gyn offices. Having said that, you might come across in the hospital setting a woman who's pregnant via IVF or has had a history of the same. You might want to clarify to yourself your feelings on that now before it becomes an issue. I work on a mother-baby/antepartum floor and we run across IVF pregnancies fairly frequently, either delivered or as a high-risk pregnancy. I have nothing to do with the actual process, just the end result.
I am not an expert on where stem cell research is most common - hopefully someone who does know will come along. Good luck to you.
