I am a nursing student and I am currently facing a conundrum. I believe what I remember about our past lectures on IVF is this: when asked with the IVF level, it is the number where the fluid is aligned with. Meaning regardless whether is upside down, it is where the fluid is aligned with. To determine how much is LEFT, you find the difference between the total volume and the IVF level. For example, if the IVF of 1000ml is at the level of 600 cc, the fluid left is 400 cc. Is this correct? Please reply asap anyone...thank you

To measure the amount of IVF left in a bag, you must have the bag right-side up (or in other words, so the writing is normal; not upside down). The volume measurement on the side of the bag starts at the max volume of the bag (ie 1000mL) and goes down in descending order. If the fluid level is at the 600mL mark, it means that 400mL have infused and there is 600mL left in the bag. The numbers on the bag indicate the amount of volume contained within the IVF bag.
