Has anyone had to do an interview, either in person or by phone, to get accempted into a nursing program? If so, what types of questions did they ask?

I was interviewed for admission into the GEP at UIC. Heres is a copy/paste of my previous post about the experience:
I just had my interview for a direct entry master's program. The interview was with two faculty members. I was completely nervous and have mixed feelings about how well I did. Most of the interview consisted of prompts or comments as opposed to direct questions. However, here are some of the questions in the interview:How are you in the sciences? How do you feel about not working for 15 months? (The first 15 months of this program prohibits students from working)How well do you handle stress? What population do you see yourself working with?Do you have any questions for us?The interviewers had my file in front of them and asked a lot of questions specific to my situation. Beware that if you have anything questionable in your application, they will probably pick at it. Apparently one of my references had written something that drew negative attention ( I was shocked!) and I had to defend myself. That was a little uncomfortable. Hopefully I will recieve word that I was accepted, nonetheless.

I was accepted into the program and will begin on Jan 2007. There are a number of other threads about school interview, so I suggest a search on the forum. Good luck.

Yes, I had a personal interview and it was an interesting experience. First off, I was complimented on my essay so it started off really well. She asked me why I wanted to be a nurse, what I thought nurses actually did, and why I thought I'd be a good one. Then she asked me some situational questions like:
1. What would I do if I had a professional conflict with another nurse or a personal conflict? How would I handle it?
2. What would I do if a doctor gave me an order that I disagreed with.
So they were pretty tough questions! I have 2 friends that also interviewed (with a different staff member) and they weren't asked anything like these questions!
I guess my answers were satisfactory b/c I was accepted and start Jan 2007.
Best Wishes!

Rough interview Mixy!
May I ask where you will be attending nursing school? In NY? Just curious because I just sent in a few apps to places throughout NY and have an interview in a few days.
Congrats!

Hi Julie!
My class was the last to be interviewed- beginning fall 2007 admissions are decided based on a point system and no more interviews.
Good Luck!
