well, I apologize in advance because I'm sure this has been posted before but I have searched and can't seem to find this exactly...but is being asked about availability and license renewal status a good sign, or is this just a standard question?

a good sign they are willing to move forward. If you are not available to start work when they need you, or if you have paperwork issues that would delay/interfere with work, there is no point in hiring you now. At least, not for the open position they are trying to fill right now. Just be truthful. I hope it all works out for you

Good luck in getting the job!
thank you for your feedback!
To add, I felt pretty good about the interview. I kind of got off to an awkward start because I was sooo nervous. But I think if the interviewers can look past those nerves, then I have a good shot. One of the interviewers I wasn't sure if she liked me though. She grilled me more than the others. But the others I felt good vibes from.
