Hello all! I have my 1st interview for a nursing job this coming Thursday! I will be graduating in May. I am so nervous. I feel pretty prepared for the interview, I have thought about what I will say to all the typical interview questions (I've been searching on the internet and some of my books have pointers). I was just wondering if anyone has any additional advice. I don't work in healthcare right now and it has been a while since I have had a formal interview! Wish me luck!

Some questions I always ask:
1. Who will I report to?
2. Who will do my performance review? How often are performance reviews done?
3. How did the position become open?
4. When do you expect to make a decision on filling the position?
5. What will be my specific assignment? (Assuming you don't already know)
6. Is overtime mandated, if so how frequently?
7. What is your nurse turnover rate? CNA turnover rate?
8. How much vacation time do I recieve. When? When does the annual vacation time increase?
9. What are the requirements for using vacation time?
10. Do I recieve sick pay?
11. Do you offer long term disability insurance? Short term disability insurance.
12. Do you have a pension plan? 401K plan? What is the company's match for a 401K plan? What are the investment options?
13. What will be my patient load?
14. Will I be expected to rotate shifts?
15. Can I meet my direct supervisor?
16. How long is my orientation? What does orientation entail?
I also ask to see the floor I'll be working and to meet some of the staff.
Best of luck to you!
