Interview for current Nurse Practitioner (Student FNP assignment)

Published

Hello all!

I am currently in my first semester of the NP program. One of my assignments is to interview a NP that is currently practicing. I was hoping to find someone willing to participate in this assignment. These are the following questions I am seeking to learn your answers from:

  1. How long have you been a Nurse Practitioner? When did you realize you wanted to be a NP?
  2. How long did it take you to feel comfortable in this role? Did you meet any resistance with coworkers (Doctors, other RN's)?
  3. How many days/hours a week do you work?
  4. Was it difficult to find a position in the field you were applying for?
  5. Have you ever had to ask for help with a patient scenario? How did you go about that? Was the person sought help from considerate and understanding?
  6. Are you working in the field you would like to stay in long term? Do you have any other areas you would like to work in? What are they?
  7. What was the hardest part of being an RN? What is the hardest part of being a NP? What was/is the most rewarding for each of these roles?
  8. How do you feel about insurance companies' reimbursement policies for services that are provided by a NP versus a doctor?
  9. Where do you see your career in 5 years? 10 years?
  10. What advice do you have for RN's currently in the NP program?

If you would like to help me by answering these questions, I would be extremely grateful! I know how valuable your time is!!! Feel free to respond in a post, or even private message me and I will give you my email address, or we can skype or talk on the phone.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my post! I am really looking forward hearing the responses not only for my assignment, but just out of my own curiosity!

Have a great day!
