Interview out of area?

Hi All-

I tried to search, but it's hard to on this forum without going through a million pages. :-) I'm wondering if anyone has had a phone interview and then had to go to the location for an in person interview? It's about 500 miles away and while I'm able to go, I feel super guilty leaving my current position to go. But then that's a whole different issue. :-)

Also, I'm wondering how long after? When I interviewed for my current job I was called within 2 days to get the offer. All the jobs I had before that were travel assignments other than my very first new grad job-and I already worked on that unit so I was really guaranteed the position. So in 13 years of turing this is only my 2nd time to have to really stress about an interview. :-)

The other big issue I have is my current lease is not up until April 25 and while I could probably do a month or month and a half of rent in 2 places I can't do much more than that! Any thoughts on how long they will wait? I guess if they won't I just can't do it anyway. I'm used to HR taking forever so I thought I was safe applying now!

Any insight about Rady Children's? I worked there as a traveler but want to go back to San Diego! I'm mostly curious at this point about what new employee orientation is all about there for ambulatory care positions. And curious about the dates if anyone has access to the calendar. :-)
