Interventions

First of all, take a deep breath. You say you took the HESI after your second quarter. I assume you have more nursing school ahead of you and will not be taking the NCLEX in the next couple of weeks. You will figure this out. The HESI is an indicator of how well you would do on the NCLEX, that's true. But it is also a tool to help you identify areas of weakness and strength. You have found out you don't do the best on prioritizing interventions. There are several books out there to help. The Saunders NCLEX review has a chapter at the beginning of the book that explains test taking skills. They also have a book titled "Strategies for success for taking the NCLEX RN". It discusses exactly how the questions are asked, and the best way to tackle them. I have found it a help, just reviewed it last night, and I only have two quarters left.

You can do it. Just equip yourself with the right tools.

I completed the HESI today, second semester ADN. I did fine on everything except interventions. I always seem to pick the second-best answer, which is not wrong, but it's not right either. After our HESI is finished, it explains the thinking. Time after time it said that the answer I choose is right, but it's not the best one. Even if I clearly understand the situation the patient is in, I don't think like I'm supposed to. I'm not gonna fail (unless I bomb the final), but at this rate I'm not gonna pass the N-CLEX.

Does anyone know of a book that I could buy that cuts through all the chase and tells me what the best choice is in a situation? Our Med-Surg book sucks.

First let me say that next to mine, you have THE CUTEST avatar!!!! I have a doxie too;) Anyway...

Buy a kaplan book bc they come with a cd in the back and you can practice on your computer just like a real NCLEX test. Go on half.com and buy some NCLEX flascards you can get them for like 5$ even if the books are outdated they are still good practice. I have also went to my schools library and checked out some of their NCLEX books then I go through practice those questions and return them.

Also I reccommend the Prentice Hall series...there is one titled:: Medical Surgical Nursing, Marternal Nursing, Pathophysiology, Mental Health Nursing and so on...those are great they have questions and they are kinda loike a text..the one on acid base/electrolytes is very good!

oh yeah try Exam Cram too its good.
