Internship for PMHNP

1) What state are you in? / Hold current license in?

2) What resources does your school provide in terms of helping students find placements? What have you already done to secure a placement?  Where are you currently at in your schooling and how many clinical placement have you already completed?

3) Are you looking for inpatient or outpatient experience? Do you need the hours to be in adult, pediatric, or geropsych?

4) What is your experience working with mental health population(s) and why are you pursuing PMHNP training? What are your career goals?

Asking online forums is okay I guess, but pretty much every forum I'm a part of is overrun with these kinds of requests. They are much, much more likely to be taken seriously if some of the above questions can be answered and you can show that you've already done some legwork, know specifics on what kind of educational experience you are hoping for, and can differentiate yourself from the crowd of other students asking.  I'd also STRONGLY urge you to reach out to connections/contacts you have in your existing professional and personal networks as these are more likely to result in solid placements than asking random people online (after all you don't actually know if any of us are who we claim to be on the internet).

I am in CA, but can do telehealth from NM, UT, CO and potentially other states if I have enough time to get a license in that state.

I have completed a first clinical and my school does not provide any assistance to out of state students. 

I am open to any outpt experience via telehealth. I need 100 hrs geri and 100 hrs adult.

My first Masters is in Critical Care/Trauma and I am currently transitioning into mental health to become a Nurse Practitioner. Upon my graduation my intent is to focus on the mental health of Healthcare providers and First responders. I believe that this population deserves special care, since they are exposed to traumatic events on a regular basis and dedicate their entire lives to the care of others. I spent last five years working with this population. I am currently being supervised at the West Coast Post Trauma retreat. This is the only residential facility for First Responders struggling with PTSD on the West Coast. My past achievements include setting up an organized peer support program at a level 2 trauma center and creating a nonprofit organization that is focused on the support of disaster relief responders.
