Int. student BSN to MSN program without US license

Published

Dear BSN students

I'm an international post graduate student here in US who is RN licensed in my country and would like to take a MSN degree in US to teach nursing courses at college level. I search the internet for MSN programs that except me without US RN license or at least admitted me and before the practical course start they ask me to present the license but no results.

All MSN programs required the RN license before admission. One of my friends told me that there are universities who offer admission with no need to a License if I'm looking for a Master of Nursing Education or Educator.

So please guys if you know about any university that give admission for international students with no need of the RN license that would be helpful.

Note:

I'm preparing for the NCLEX these days but still looking for those programs I mentioned above with no license needed.

I might not be able to answer your question directly but I really want to share my opinion about your interest in pursuing your MSN degree in nursing. It is better to check out the state you want to practice your nursing skills( let's say the NCLEX-RN exam you are applying for), and check out the MSN programs list that the board accepts, and from then, find one that fix your situation. Because not all the programs are accepted by all the states in US.

Good luck!

With the exception of direct entry masters programs (you would not qualify with a BSN as this is intended for those with non nursing bachelors) nearly all require an active RN license in the state where the school is as a condition of enrollment. Do you have extensive clinical practice experience? Do you intend to teach in the US or your home country? University nursing instructors are jobs with low turnover and require recent extensive clinical practice experience. If you look for posts by llg and jbudd in the nurse educator specialty forum they offer considerable insight on nurse education.

Here's a thread with insight about becoming a nursing instructor:

Look in the state where you wish to live work & be licensed as a nurse to see what programs are available. But the MSN programs are intended for currently licensed nurses
