I am curious to find out why there isnt more avenues open and put out ther for rts to upgrade to rns. I know that after my program in 1993 i had all my pre-reqs to start the rn program already out of the way because they are part of my rt program. So if an lvn can upgrade to rn as so can an rt, how come more rts arent made aware of this?? or more education on open programs to become an rn(especially with the shortage in health care)???
Open for any&all input on this

Hey,
As an RT, what sort of avenue are you looking for to high step it to RN??? I guess I haven't seen much on RT's jumping to the field. Just curious as to what research, direction, or schooling you are looking into to get into the nursing field???

Carrie-rt, I often wondered the same thing myself. I am an RRT who would like to become a CRNA one day. I often felt that as an RT, we shouldn't be in the same category as a person with absolutely no medical background when it comes to admission into the program. I thought the transition would have been a little smoother. I do realize that this post is over a year old.
