Independent Practice?

Hi all,

I know several nurse practitioners in Wisconsin that have managed to open their own practice after many years working in clinics. I wanted to know if this is a common thing around the country, or if it's just an anomaly in Wisconsin? Does anyone else know NPs that have managed to break out on their own? I know rights vary by state, so it wouldn't be possible everywhere, but I'd love to hear about anyone who's been successful at this.
