I became a nurse to work in labor and delivery. It's been my passion and entire reason for even becoming a nurse since day one. I graduated in May of 2013 and had such a hard time finding a job due to the whole "no experience plague" but ended up getting a position in ICU. I've been there ever since and figured my critical care experience would help to get me a job in L&D. Problem is that it hasn't. Now I'm dealing with the while "no experience" thing all over again trying to find a job in the specialty I desire. I'm frustrated because it seems like there is very little I can do to help the situation.
is there anything I can do that might help me in my job search?! Another issue is that I have my ADN but I'm in the process of obtaining my BSN.
Thanks for letting me vent and ANY advice would be much appreciated!

Hello! I'm sorry you are having such a hard time cracking into the speciality that is your passion. I imagine that is very frustrating. My advice isn't coming from experience but from advice I've seen here and heard through the grapevine in real life. That advice is to take steps to show you are serious about becoming an OB nurse. Take classes/obtain certifications that you will need so you can place them on your resume. If you can obtain the contact info for the manager on the unit you wish to work, call her/him directly and find out what would make you a desirable candidate, so you can take those steps. Volunteer as a doula or on an OB unit.
Good luck! I hope you land your dream job very soon!!
