A couple of graduate programs I am planning on applying to want you to write a statement of purpose or personal essay telling your career goals, what do you plan on doing with your degree if accepted. I just wanted to get ideas about how to start it and what did you guys include. By the way, Im looking into applying for nurse educator programs.
Thanks

I recently applied to an NP program, and I must say that writing these essays can be grueling! I talked about specific clinical experiences that I have had that have inspired me to want to pursue a career as an NP.
My advice is to paint a picture for the admission committee, telling them why you want to do this. Don't just simply tell them that you do. MSN Programs, regardless of specialty, seem to put a great emphasis on healthcare policy, nursing research, and evidence-based practice, so you may want to express how this knowledge will help you in your career. Don't be afraid to share your "ah-ha" moment and the experiences that have lead to your desire to pursue this specialty. You may also want to talk about what exactly you hope to do with the education degree. Do you want to be involved with academic nursing and teach future nurses? Or are you interested in patient education?
Best of luck with your applications! Hope this helps!
