Incentive programs based on quality care

Published

I'm currently working in oncology and do not have an incentive package as productivity for me is not feasible since we focus on quality care vs quantity. My employer says they would consider an incentive package for me if I presented one that would be acceptable. Any suggestions on what to propose? I'm missing out on a lot of potential income due to lack of bonus pay. I work for Adventist Health Systems in an outpt clinic seeing both inpts and outpts. I work with 1 physician and we see approx 15-20 chemo infusions per day, as well as 35 clinic pts. My average is 12 pts daily. Thanks in advance!!!

In nephrology my bonus structure is based on hospitalization rate. So what I do is keep in contact with my pts. For instance a pt is getting fluid overloaded I make sure they get extra dialysis. A pt is out of meds I make sure to contact them and refill quickly. If there is a social or community need I make sure they get connected with that.

What about pain pain and symptom management? Decreasing the rates of ED visits for nausea or vehemently related side effects. Decreasing infection rates? Emphasize hand washing, wearing a mask when in public, etc

Thanks, this is good info.
