impaired nurses

hey guys...

I'm in my last semester of my LPN program and for our Role Transition class we have to do a group project about an issue that affects nursing care. I've chosen to focus on impaired nurses...whether from mental illness, chronic illness, or drug/alcohol abuse and how it affects pt care, etc. I would really appreciate any opinions, ideas or experiences dealing with this issue. I would really love to have someone's first hand experience and present it to my class and tell how they dealt with it and if/how they returned to practice. Thanks so much for any responses.

I know there are several threads from the past on this. Try a search under "impaired nurses" or similiar key words. There are quite a few. I wish you luck!
