Immigrant Nurse

Hi Friends, I am a Masters Prepared Nurse (Obs and Gyne) with experience of about 5 years in nursing from India. I am in the process of moving to Canada. What job opportunities await? or what educations should I get into, once I reach Canada (Alberta).I am aware of the fact that getting education specific job at first wont be possible, and I am up for any survival jobs. But at the same time I want to pursue any course which will help me land a nursing job.

What steps have you taken towards becoming registered with CARNA? Have you applied to NNAS? Received your advisory report? If so, what were the results?

In regards to finding work some IENs work as health care aides they provide personal assistance to elderly, disabled or chronically ill people. Some find jobs through LTCs or home care agencies.

Stay where you are

@faithsonia, consider joining Pre-Arrival Support Services (pass4nurses.org), it's free, it will give you access to webinars on topics such as; nursing in Canada, the Canadian healthcare system and employment opportunities that can transfer into survivor jobs while you wait for registration.
